Thething withnasal sprays likerhinocort andothercortisone type sprays istheycanhelptobring down swelling afterusing forabouttwo weeks. I donotknow ifAstelin isrecommended yetforchildren butitisanantihistamine forthenose anddoesnotfeed theyeast/bacteria thatmaybe present ininfected nasal cavities likesometimes cortisone canandthenyoucangetone sinus problem afteranother. Youcanusea sterile saline nasal rinse butitmustbedone daily too,thisrinses away theoffending debris. Another med thattheywereusing fornasal swelling/allergies wastheasthma med singulair whichseemed tohelpsinus allergy suffers. I prefer totry othermethods unless itwasrecommended byanextremely up todate doctor-one whoreads thejournals andkeeps up withthelatest findings oncertainmeds andtheireffectiveness.
