  • Weusea vacuum atleasteveryday,sometimes twice a day forthecommon areas kitty hangs out (Bisel Pet Pro isreally goodatgetting cat hair) andwehavea 3M Allergy Reducer air filter inourfurnace / AC whichalsoseems tohelpa lot. Otherthanthat,kitty gets regular combing andwet-wipe baths (a wet cloth available atpet stores fora quickbath) tohelpremove dander. I havefound Flonaze (rx allergy nasal spray) isreally helpful withpet allergies,too.

  • Thepurple Dyson Vacuum isthepet one,that’s supposed tocutdown onpet dander,hair andallergens,butit’s alsoa 800.00 vacuum.

  • People arenotonlyalergic tocat “dander”butalsocat saliva whichisspread ontheirfur bygrooming. Youcangetcat bath wipes toquickly wipe themdown. Thiscouldhelptolower theallergens thatthecat produces.

    Keeping thehouse cleanisimportantaswell…dusting andvaccuming anddoing laundry oftenareimportant. Using air conditioners andfurnaces spread theallergens around. More expensively youcantry those ionic breezes…theyaresaidtocatch allergens. Yet,I havenotowned one andnotsure ifitworks withcat allergies…I amnotallergic.

    Hope somethiing works foryouguys.

  • Howcana person reduce allergic symptoms toa pet?
    Ifyouora member ofyourfamily ispartofthe15% ofourpopulation allergic topets,therearethings youcandotohelpkeep allergic reactions under control andmakeyourhome a much more comfortable placetolive. Even ifyoudonothaveallergies,thesetips arehelpful ifyouhaveguests inyourhome thatareallergic toanimals.

    * Wespend fromone third toone half ofourtime inourbedrooms. Bykeeping theanimals out ofthebedrooms atalltimes,wecangreatly reduce thesymptoms ofpet allergies.
    * Install a good“HEPA”air cleaner.
    * Close theducts tothebedrooms anduseelectric heaters.
    * Cleanandvacuum regularly.
    * Bathe yourpet weekly.
    * Donotallow yourpet onthefurniture.
    * Donotallow yourpet inyourcar. (Orusecar seat covers whenyourpet isinthecar.)
    * Brush yourpet daily anduseanallergy-reducing spray such asAllerpet.
    * Keep yourpet’s skin healthy byfeeding a high quality food anda fatty acid supplement.
    * Wash yourhands afterhandling thepet,histoys,bed,etc.
    * See yourphysician anddiscuss possible immunotherapy ormedications.

  • youhavea bigproblem buteasy tofix. I havethesame ploblem withallergies anda cat mybrother has,unless thecat isvery very very cleanI getallergies,soyoumayhavetoshower thecat often.
    Another option isgetting a different breed one thatdoesnotshed hair thisismore costly butthereyougotwo options tochoosefrom

  • Theothersuggestions areallgood. I’ll justadd one thing I didn’t see mentioned. Myboyfriend wasHORRIBLY allergic tobasically everything,butespecially cats. Hewenttoanallergist anddidthewhole pin prick test thing andhereacted tocat dander sofastthatitscared thedoctor.

    Whatheendedup doing wasgetting allergy shots. Whattheydoisintroduce small amounts oftheallergen over thecourse ofa year (2 injections/week) andeventually yourbody builds up animmune resistence totheallergen. Wenow owntwo cats andhestill hassomesymptoms,butnotanything near whatheused tohave. Soifthat’s anoption,maybe yourmom shouldsee anallergist. Myboyfriend alsotakes Allegra sometimes ifit’s really bad. Soifyourmom justhasoccasional flair-ups,thenperhaps something likeAllegra mightwork.

    I hope everything works out! Goodluck.

  • mybest anwsers havealready beengiven butletmereinforce…vaccum asoftenaspossible andbathe yourkitties asoftenaspossible…atmostpet stores youcanfind shampoos specially formulated forallergy sufferers andthose really doseem towork.
