I am weighing pros and cons. I realize immunotherapy isn’t 100% effective. I’m also aware going that route will involve a long term commitment to getting allergy shots on (at a minimum) a weekly basis. What are the drawbacks of being on allergy meds for years? Won’t steroid nasal sprays cause some funky side effects?
I should add that since being on these allergy meds, I have been enjoying the best spring of my entire life. I smelled Easter lilies for the first time this month, and have finally learned what cut grass smells like. It’s also the first spring I’ve not had a sinus infection. The meds do work for me.

I live in Michigan, and have been taking Zyrtec and Nasonex to fight outside seasonal allergies since mid-summer. The leaves are just about off the trees, but the grass is still green and we still have some flowers. Do I have to wait until snowfalls to go off of it?

I use an over the counter nasal spray (Otrivin) and I have tried nasal steriods for my allergies like Nasonex and Flonase. Nothing seems to work. Only the Otrivin nasal spray but it is not safe to use all the time. I also use reactine as well but that is only sometimes and it doesn’t help when I sleep. Does anyone know of any knew meds out there that are safe to use everyday and that are on the market??
