Is it true your mattress weight can double in a few years from corpses of dust mites?

Just heard this on a Sleep Train radio commercial. Anyone know if this is true? How long should i keep a mattress for before replacing with a new one?

I don’t know but eww! That’s nasty. =P Maybe I should buy one of those plastic cover things…
ewwwwww gross
mostly dead skin cells, you need to vaccum and clean your mattress every few months.
I don’t know about doubling, but I’m sure it adds some weight. Everyone has dust mites, they are tiny, you won’t see them but they eat skin cells that are shed by humans every day and night (especially when sleeping). They have to die somewhere and they tend to live in mattresses, so I would assume they would add weight. There are millions of them in each and every home and apartment. No matter how gross or disgusting, it’s just another part of life.
Only if you died in bed and didn’t get out of it for a few years first. Those sleep train people are getting paid to keep you awake and sell mattresses!
Hello =)
Corpses of dust mites, and dead human skin, yes…..
It depends on the type of mattress, and the fabric that covers it.
The same is true of sofa cushions.
If you have no allergies, there is no reason to replace it just because of that…..
You don’t even want to hear the horrors of what is in your wall-to-wall carpeting….if you really want to do something to improve your health, start by getting rid of that, and replacing it with hard floors and area rugs that you can beat and replace as needed.

i hope not.i bet i won’t be able to sleep tonight.thanks a lot.
Yes, I guess so. A serta mattress salesperson told me the same thing.
Personally 5 years is my limit. Turn it over or reverse it once a month.
They are usually pretty well rump sprung by the end of 5 years.
