It’s funnybutI’m 58 andwhenI wenttoschool inthe50′s and60′s I don’t remember anyone having a peanut allergy.Italsoseems likeourfoods aremore contaminated now astheyeverwere.Youcan’t bya tomato inthestates becauseofSalmonella.Thenagain foods 40 years ago didn’t haveallthepreservatives andsteroids theydonow.Perhaps those arethereal culprits.
I couldnt agree withyoumore! Allergies seems tobeextremely common intoday’s children. I have3 friends thatI havebeenfriends withsincehigh school. Allofthemincluding myself haveatleast2 kids andout ofeach ofour2 kids atleastone ofthemhasananaphylaxes food allergy. Myson isallergic topeanuts,tree nuts,eggs andfresh tomatos andshellfish. Anditsnota finiky thing- itisa severe swelling andthroat closing allergy. Thesame withmyfriend’s children- weallcarry multiple epi-pens andboxes ofbenedryl. Doctors willtellyouit’s hereditary,whichI donotbelieve becausenone ofusorourhusbands haveanyhistory ofallergies tofood. I didread once thatexperts arediscovering thattheremaybea link between theantibiotics thattheygive animals thatweeat andalsopreservatives. Theway itwasexplainedisthata food allergy doesnotmean thattheimmune system isweak butthatitistoogood. Itover-reacts tosubstances thatarenotharmful (such asegg,nut,milk proteins). Sothereasoning isthatthepreservatives andantibiotics inourfood havealtered ourimmune systems andwehavepassed thistothemake-up ofourchildren.
